OpenAI launches ChatGPT App Store; targets millions of users with new developer ecosystem

OpenAI has officially launched its App Store for ChatGPT, marking a significant evolution from a powerful chatbot to a comprehensive, integrated platform. This strategic move aims to transform ChatGPT into a central hub where users can directly access and utilize a wide array of third-party applications, fundamentally expanding the AI's capabilities for everyday tasks. The company has begun accepting submissions, with a select number of approved apps expected to go live early next year.

Users can activate these apps mid-conversation either by name or through a dedicated tools menu, eliminating the need for separate installations.
